My Snowboarding Hotel

I always loved snowboarding for as long as I can remember. I love the way that snow boarding is a sport that is filled with excitement and personality. I also loved the way that snow boarding was seen as a kind of extreme sport. It made me feel almost proud of myself that I was associated with this status. When I firstly hit the slopes and tried snowboarding it was actually a very new sport at the time, and had not even nearly been in the Olympics.
However, as the trend increased the slopes started to change its ratio of skiing to snowboarding. That is why I wanted to start a business that could benefit from this; I decided on starting a hotel in France that was actually targeting the snowboarders rather than the skiers. You see, the snow boarder and the skier are two very different kind of holiday maker. A snow boarder is more likely to be interested in having a great time, and socialising with younger people, whilst a skier may be away as part of a family vacation.
However, I realised that my business was going to be a risky venture because at the same time as I started it, I was scared that snowboarding might not take off in the way that it has. I mean – did you know that know 22% of winter sports competitors are snowboarders? That is an amazing statistic and one that really indicates the kind of thing that I am talking about. Snow boarding is a massive sport, and I actually do not think there has been any other sport in the history of the world that has seen such success in such a short period of time.
I should say the success of my hotel has been enormous, because I have been warm and comforting to the snowboarders, showing knowledge on the slopes and snowboarding in general. I am able to tell them what I would do, and give them some hot tips that have been passed on to me from hundreds and hundreds of snow boarders through my hotel.
One of the things that I love the most is the way that everyone is always having a good time, and that can reflect on my mood. When everyone in the hotel is enjoying themselves and having a good time, it is easier for me to sit back and have a good time as well. It really is that simple.
I am always asked by the snowboarders if I go on the slopes myself, and I always have to say no, almost appearing like I am a kind of half-interested snowboarder. I almost feel my head dropping as I say it. However, the reason for this is that nowadays, I honestly very rarely have any spare time, and it is the sad part of having my own business. My wife always offers to cover, but when she does I always see it as a great opportunity to go down the bank, or do something like catch up with the paper work.
When I think about how busy I am I always just stop and think about how lucky I am to have a successful business, and a comfortable living – however my passion for snowboarding that gave me the kick start to get the business underway has now gone.

Why I Choose Snowboarding
Posted: May 24, 2008 |Comments: 0
|
Many people ask me from time to time why I choose snowboarding as the sport that I wanted to do. Why I choose to work so hard at it, and why I managed to achieve a degree of success in doing so. The answer is simple, and it is the reason why many people do well at different sports. The answer is desire and love for the sport and that is what I had in abundance for snowboarding, before my accident.
When it came to choosing a sport, I thought long and hard when I came to a cross-road in my life. What should I do? Should I do snowboarding or skateboarding? This was really hard for me as I loved both sports, but I was having to train for both of them, and therefore wasn’t dedicating enough time to either. That is why when it came down to it, I decided that skateboarding was only going to be a hobby and that snowboarding was what I wanted to do with my life. The reasons that I preferred snowboarding were not clear cut, and to say I had anything less than love for skateboarding is also not true. But I think I loved the way that snowboarding was a whole different world. Do you know what I mean? When you choose to go skateboarding you can just jump out of bed, and skateboard down to the shop, Ollie over a step and grind down a pole. Is that fun? Yes, of course it is. But when it comes to snowboarding you are entering a completely alien environment. Let me explain. When you live in Atlanta you hardly get snow every day of the week, nor do you get hills and slaloms caked in it! That is why, whether I am boarding on snow or synthetic snow the feeling is the same. It is like, boy I am on snow!
When I choose snowboarding there was also another reason that really helped to make my mind up for me, and that was my friends! My friends who done skateboarding were not as close friends as my friends that done snowboarding and as you can imagine this had an impact. The thought of getting to spend more time with Collin, Justin and the lads was just to much to miss out on! We had such a good laugh, and had so much in common. We would always feel the same about snowboarding, and we were able to really help each other out on issues. When we noticed a flaw in each others technique we would always point it out to each other so that we could all improve together. This worked great, and was one of the reasons that I chose snowboarding over skateboarding when it came down to it!
Now I suppose I should tell you the sad part – the reason why I am no longer able to pursue a career in either, snowboarding or skateboarding. The reason for this is a terrible accident that ruptured my leg muscle, and has resulted in a six month time-out at such a crucial time. You see others will improve in fitness whilst I deteriorate and that is why my sponsor has now dropped me as well. What I am hoping to do is try my best to get back into the sport, because my love for it and my ability at it should be enough to make me come through. Collin and Justin are doing really well, but it is hard for me to spend as much time with them when they are always down the slope or working out. One of my friends called Blair, has also recently won the Junior USA championship, and although I am happy for him it makes me sad to think that I could have been their competing for that trophy. All I can do is try my best, and hopefully luck will fall on my side.

The winter season is a much awaited time of the year especially for those who love snowboarding. It is a sport that you can enjoy when you are in the snow. With the use of a snowboard, you can do different tricks and other moves. If you have not tried it before then you must be able to learn what the necessary things to bring are and what to do so that you will have a fun experience on your first day of How To Snowboard
The first thing that you must do in order to enjoy this kind of winter sport is to wear appropriate clothing. It is a cold weather out there during the winter so you would not want to spoil your first day of enjoyment by getting chilled easily. It would be best to enjoy snowboarding for how many hours. Aside from that, you need to wear water proof clothing so that you will not be left soaking wet from melted snow.
You must also wear the right snowboarding gear for protection. Wear your goggles to protect your eyes from the snow and cold wind and so that you will be able to see where you are going. The helmet, elbow pads and knee pads are used to prevent any physical injury which can happen especially that you are new to this kind of winter activity. As a beginner, it is just normal that you will fall to the ground for a lot of times.
To prevent more injury to happen, try to choose a place or slope where the snow is fluffy. Avoid places where hard ice is forming. You can face a lot of hassles when you try to start your How To Snowboard experience. First of all, you will develop a lot of bruising since you will fall on a harder surface. It is also very hard for balancing since your snowboard will slide more. When you will have difficulty in balance, you will have more moments that you will fall hard on the ground.
Moreover, if you are really a beginner, it is more important that you learn from an expert. Taking classes would really help you in learning snowboarding tricks and some important tips. When you take up classes from a professional in this kind of winter sport, you will be able to really follow a step by step procedure starting from the basics until you go a level higher.
Lastly, you can always do it with friends or your family. Usually when you are in a group, you can learn from them and at the same time it would be more fun. Your fear of going out alone riding your How To Snowboard will fade away. You can also laugh at your own mistakes and enjoy falling all the time on the snow with friends.
Snowboarding is such an enjoyable sport even if it is still your first time. As long as you bring along with you the right gear, this is the kind of sport that you would ask for more especially when done together with a crowd.
You must equip yourself with the right snowboarding gear in order to enjoy this fun experience as a beginner. Check out http://www.howtosnowboard.org to learn more about how this winter activity is done.

Preparation is the key to waxing your snowboard in a timely fashion. So, before you can begin to wax your board, you first need to get all of your tools together. You can start by getting a work bench to place your board on. Alternatively, you can use two crates and place your board between them.
When waxing your snowboard, most of your effort we be directed towards scraping the excess wax from the board. Because of this, you need to make sure that the work area is at a comfortable height for you. Tools you will need include a scraper for getting rid of excess wax on the board, an iron to melt the wax, abrasive pads for getting rid of old wax and dirt, and polishing pads for smoothing out the wax and giving it a nice sheen. It also doesn’t hurt to have a drop cloth to make clean up of the old wax easier.
And, of course, you will require wax. Snowboard wax has different formulations depending on where it is to be use. Basically they are formulated for warm weather, cold weather, and all purpose weather. Choose the wax that most reflects the season and the temperatures in the area in which you will be snowboarding.
Before purchasing your snowboard wax, read the instructions on the package. It should show the temperatures for which the wax is formulated. If it doesn’t, however, the store personnel can help you in choosing the correct wax for your area. Unless you are a professional or the temperatures in your area are extreme in either direction, you will probably end up using the all-season snowboard wax.
Spread the wax over your snowboard. Once this is done, you will need to smooth it out with your iron. The aim is to make sure that the wax seeps into all of the tiny crevices in the base. Different waxes require different temperature settings. Make sure that your temperature setting is appropriate for the wax that you are using.
The last thing that you want to do is to burn your snowboard. One way of protecting it from the heat is to apply the wax to the entire surface of the board. It is important that you keep the iron continually moving and don’t let it stay in place for too long. Think of it as ironing your clothes.
When you are done ironing, don’t start scraping the wax right away. Let the wax set and harden a little bit, and then start your scraping. Depending on the wax and the temperature in your shop, you probably won’t have to wait more than about five to ten minutes.
Watch the amount of heat you apply to the wax on the board carefully. If it begins to smoke, your iron it too hot. First of all, it means that the chemicals in the wax are starting to separate. When this happens, wax is no longer really wax. It has separated into into its various components and no longer performs the function that wax will.
A second reason for not allowing your wax to smoke is that it can destroy your base to the extent that it is no longer capable of accepting new wax. So watch your iron temperatures carefully and avoid ruining your wax job.

Olympic Weightlifting A Maximal Short Bursts of Exercise
When subjects pedal a bicycle ergometer at heavy loads that can be maintained for no more than one or two minutes, nearly 40% of the muscle creatine phosphate stores are depleted after only 10 seconds, 50% after 20 seconds, and 70% after 40 seconds. Only very small changes in glycogen occur with such heavy work, no significant changes would be expected in blood glucose or fat stores.

Is it really that hard to learn to snowboard? Is snowboarding really that hard on your body? The answer: yes and no. For the beginning boarder, sore muscles can be an issue and you might spend more time face down in the snow than on your board. Don’t let that keep you off the slopes!
There are a few things you can do to make your snowboarding experience easier and more satisfying. First of all bring plenty of ibuprofen or naproxen sodium with you to prevent the aches and pains from keeping you off the slope on day two. Second, don’t overlook the importance of a good pre-boarding stretch!
Pay attention to you clothes. It’s much more important to dress for warmth, water resistance and movement than it is to look cool. Your muscles will thank you, and your snowboarding will improve much more quickly with the right clothes for the slopes.
Make sure you are using the right equipment for your size and boarding style. If you don’t know how to size your board, set your bindings and size your boots, ask a pro. It’s worth it for the added control that the right sized snowboard will give you.
The first trick that you need to learn is standing and balancing upright on your snowboard. It doesn’t sound like much of a trick, but it is. Balance is key when learning to snowboard and is very important if you plan on enjoying your day on the slopes. Another very important element that may be often overlooked is getting the right board for your boarding style and so is getting fitted for the right snowboard. It will make a huge difference in your performance and feel if you take the time to get fitted for the right board.
One of the hardest techniques to master is treating snowboarding like a dance. Just like in dancing, you want your eyes on where you’re headed and not on your feet. Staring down at your feet makes you more likely to hit something and get hurt. Looking where you’re going is the best way to stay safe and keep good balance on your board.
The most important thing you can learn so that you avoid broken bones and twisted joints is how to fall down. Figuring out how to hit the snow is key to your safety. It can mean the difference between a hospital visit and getting back up and snowboarding some more.
Another great tip for you when you are out boarding is to always pack a small bottle of water. You can never underestimate the importance of being hydrated, even in winter when you don’t expect to sweat too much.
Practice patience and courtesy on the slopes. Being aware of other snowboarders and skiers will keep both you and them safe. Patience and courtesy will not only keep you safe, it will make your whole experience more pleasant.
