I have a snowboard dilemma!?

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

Okay, I’m thinking if I should buy this snowboard that’s on sale from 420.00 to 120.00. I know it’s a really good deal, plus it’s rated well, but i don’t know if it’s a good brand. Also, i might not go snowboarding a lot this season because of a recent knee injury from soccer, and i was wondering if there will be a good sale with more brands and boards once the season is over.

Old snowboard still ride-able?

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

I picked an old snowboard up from a garage sale for $10. It is just the board so even if it is unride-able $10 is not that much. It is a burton snowboard that has a woodcore. The metal edges are somewhat rusted. Also there are a few deep scratches on the bottom but no wood is showing. I was wondering if I could sharpen the edges to remove the rust and fix the scratches with a p-tex candle. Please let me know! Thanks in advance!!

Does anyone have a snowboard setup similar to this?

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

Ok. So this’ll be my first year snowboarding. I mean, I’ve done it a handful of times before, using my friend’s stuff. Long story short, my mom found a snowboard at a garage sale over the summer and made me get out of the car and look at it. I got it for $40, the board, boots, bindings, and a bag. The people selling it said it belonged to their neighbor’s son who was in college and they really didn’t know much about it. It doesn’t look like it’s been used more than a few times. Anyway, the board says it’s a Burton Special 53, the bindings say Burton Freestyle on the back, and the boots say Burton Glide on the inside. The boots are men’s, which leads me to believe the whole setup is… I reset the bindings, they were set up regular (left foot forward) and duck stance. Now they’re goofy with the front foot angled at 15 and the back foot at 0. So basically, I think what I’m asking is, does anyone have a board or bindings similar to this, and how does it work for you?
Oh, and I’ve been skiing for 7 years, I’m not totally new to the slopes.
@I ride Burton <3, standing up it comes to just under my nose, boots are 7 mens which is supposed to be like an 8.5 womens, which is my size, and they fit good. The bindings- as far as I know, they work… the straps all work and I didn’t have any issues re-angling them.

And when I got it I was thinking, if I don’t end up using it, I can probably get more than I paid for it if I tried to sell it. But I’m definetly intending to use it. I just have to wait about a month.

Would you recommend buying this snowboard jacket and pants?

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

Ok i know it’s in the off-season but that’s why i’m buying the stuff now because most of it is on sale.

The reason why i’m asking this is because I went on Burton’s website and read a review on the pants; the person gave them one star out of five. but i really want the pair because they’re exactly what i wanted and not too pricey. the link to them is below.

if you would to recommend something else, i can’t really pay for anything over $250

would this snowboard jacket match with these snowboard pants?

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

my sister has purple snowboard pants and is looking for a cheap jacket. We found one on sale and she doesn’t know if it will match well. purple and red get matched a lot but I’m not sure if this will work.

Are snowboard impact shorts effective?

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

I started snowboarding when I was in grade school. When I first started I fell on my butt a lot and ended up hurting my tail bone (which made basketball season unbearable). Now im a junior in high school and snowboarding has taken the place of basketball in the winter. The problem is that every now and then ill fall and my tail bone will kill. Ill heal up for the week and go out the next weekend.. only to hurt it again with just a small fall. My friends, brother, and I usually ride at least 1 or 2 times a week so being in pain makes it no fun. Ive healed up for the entire summer now and im really excited cause winters almost here… im really sick of hurting my tail bone so i’ve been looking at impact shorts. I need to know if they’re going to be worth the purchase. Which means they provide some protection against falls (even on rails, boxes, etc), they’re flexible and breathable, and if they’re really bulky. If you’ve ever rode with a pair of them please leave some feedback. Here’s some examples of what i’m talking about- http://snowboards-for-sale.com/red_snowboard_pads/

thanks, any advice would be great!

I saw that they’re having a sale but I’m not sure which one to get. I am an intermediate boarder that does everything the mountain has.
