Sunday, March 20th, 2011

I’m looking for a nice ski or snowboard jacket. My friend got a Ride jacket that was gray with purple plaid that I loved. I’m not looking for bright colors or anything, but some cool patterns but not to distracting. What are some good jackets and what are some good stores to look at? Thanks :]

is it weird if i ride a girls board?

Friday, November 5th, 2010

hey so ive been skiing for about 2 years but i wanted to get into snowboarding. so this week i went and got some gear at sports authority.. all stuff i got was discounted like 50% off actual price and the board was a $339 board that only cost $50 brand new. a few days later i was looking on the internet and i just found out that i have a womens board. RIDE Grace 150cm to be specific (not sure what year tho. 07-09ish. not this one but still a little similar design: http://www.evogear.com/outlet/snowboards/ride-grace-snowboard-womens-2008.aspx). the design doesnt look too girly, at least i didnt think so when i was getting the board lol. its just white with some palm trees on it. will it be weird if i ride a women’s snowboard if im a guy or should i return it and get something else? oh and im 5′8” 155 pounds, boots size 9 and i dont really grow anymore (im 19 and in the past 2 years i only grew about 2 inches). i put the bindings on and tried the whole setup on and the boots arent sticking out of the board.
ok thanks a lot. so it turns out that a 150cm womens board is for 100-140 pound rider. im 155 pinds but im losing weight now. i cant really return the board cuz i lsot the receipt (lol?). i think ill sell the board on craigslist.org. its a 339 dollar board as i said and i got it for 50 (brand new). so if i let it go for 150 i guess ill be good :) . thanks for the feedback.

is it possible to tell the difference between a mens and womens board just by looking at it?

Are Snowboards For Girls Different Than Those For Boys?

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Snowboarding is the ultimate thrill you can achieve on the slopes; surfers, windsurfers and skaters are guilty to have inspired this sport and everyone else seems to be following the example. While there are no restriction on who can practice snowboarding, there are some differences between snowboards for girls and those that are for boys.

The Differences In The Snowboards For Girls And Boys

The difference is not in the practice of the sport itself but only in the snowboard and that is the size of the snowboard, which is smaller in the case of the one for girls. There is no restriction in the case that a girl wishes to use a boy’s snowboard however, it is suggested girls use snowboards for girls for the following reasons: the size and the weight.

While some girls are able to handle a heavier, larger snowboard, other girls who are medium height and weight find it difficult; therefore the snowboard for girls is lighter and considerably smaller.

Like surfing, snowboarding is a sport that is based on nature and when you are on a slope, flying through the winds on the tip of the snow, any extra weight or size can bring you down. The snowboard, like the surfing board, becomes one with the rider and, therefore, it needs to be proportionate with the same.

Finding The Right Snowboard For You

If you are shopping for your first snowboard, you may want to first weigh yourself and ensure you know your height before you go to the store to buy or rent, for these are the two criteria by which you should consider purchasing your snowboard.

Try and rent a snowboard at first to see the difference between snowboards for girls and boys as well as to get a grip of the sport. Only after that, you might be ready to purchase your first snowboard.

Other Essential Snowboarding Equipment

In order to make snowboarding a safe sport you will need to ensure you have the right equipment, as well, besides the snowboard itself and that is: the helmet which will protect your head in case of a fall, padding for your knees, hips and well as elbows as those are the areas most prone to getting hurt in case you may fall, the snowboarding suit, which is similar to the skiing suit and the gloves to protect your hands.

Additional to the above mentioned items, you will need glasses to protect your eyes from the glare of the snow as well as the wind blowing directly in your eyes.

Enjoy a unique sport, which will bring you excitement and fun.

If you are trying to find a snowboard sale that will provide you with the greatest deal for your money, then doing a search online is my suggestion.

When it comes to product selection and prices, the web will offer you a much wider variety of snowboards than you will be able to locate at your local department store or specialty boutique.

Checking out many different stores to locate prices is one of the fastest & easiest methods that shoppers in the know can use the net effectively.

With the web, you can use comparison shopping to your advantage, insuring that you are most likely getting a great deal for your money.

Discovering Bargains

I make it a point to shop online.  As a result, I have been able to discover rare & hard to find snowboarding goods on the net that is either sold out or not available in my area.

I make it a habit to stop by eBay whenever I am trying to find the best deals.

They always have excellent values and just what I am searching for, so their site is one of my favorites.

If you take the time to search the eBay website very carefully, you can uncover bargains for products that offer zero charges for shipping and handling.

Web purchases can sometimes cause worry, however, their website specializes in such transactions.  For this reason, they have taken the necessary time to make sure that your credit card information is safe and secure so you can enjoy a satisfying shopping experience.
