Expert advice please: Is my snowboard too long?

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

So here’s the deal. Last week I picked up a snowboard on sale. Its a K2 Podium 159. The other size options were a 156, and a 162. I’m basically a beginner, although i have some experience. My riding style is mostly groomers, cruising, and some fast carving. I am 6′0″ and 145 lbs. I got the 159 because i thought the extra stiffness would be good for carving, but then I found out that i could have a much harder time doing turns. A friend of mine told me it will be sluggish and real hard to maneuver because i’m so light. So, is this too big of a board for me? Should I have gotten the 156? I’m starting to kick myself.

I’m getting a Rome Vinyl board and planning on these…

Bindings:

Boots:

I’m a girl and I’m pretty positive the bindings will fit the boot (size 7.5). Can someone confirm this for me?

Don’t tell me I should ‘try on the boots’ I already know that and I would if I lived near a good shop. Alas, I don’t.

So yay or nay?
Yeah I heard about BOA, but they are also more bothersome to repair if the thing breaks :P . So I’m sticking with laces -shrug-

And I’m actually a shoe size 8, so I was going for half a size lower because I’m going to wear them in, ya know?

buying a snowboard…. help please?
