Is my snowboard rental good enough?

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

Hi,
I got a used seasonal rental snowboard and I am a bit unsure if the equipment is good. I want to know if you think that the set up is good for my purpose so I know if I should ask them if they have another type of that part(that would be better of course). You know what I mean. I plan to use the snowboard for freeride, just going down the mountain the regular way and the most important part, I want to go to the terrain park this year. I have some pics of the board which are here http://community.webshots.com/album/554622601obalqc .
The boots are Nitro, the Deck has a G in the middle, and the bindings are sims. The board and bindings together weigh ten pounds. When put on flat and a slight bit of pressure is applied the middle of the bottom of the board touches the ground. You may be able to see that on the bottom of the board(the orange pictures)the bottom isn’t shiny but rather looks like a bit of white shades over the graphics. Is this normal for a waxed board that
hasn’t been used or did they not scratch off they wax or something? Sorry that my question is so long. Thanks in advance!

Northstar at Tahoe Ski and Rental Information!

When you decide to take a ski vacation it’s a great feeling knowing that you’re going to be experiencing the freedom and love that comes from riding down the mountain.  One of the things that can hang people up when planning their trip is where to rent their ski and snowboard equipment. I want to give you some basic advice on the resort itself and then offer some stores with good reputations for renting skiing gear.

Well Northstar is at Tahoe about 200 miles from San Francisco Bay which is awesome is your flying in. The bigger the airport, in this case international the cheaper the tickets tend to be. And really 200 mile isn’t that far, you can either rent a car or take a shuttle to the resort.

The resort has a base elevation of 6,330 feet and a top elevation of 8,610 feet. That’s a 2,280-foot change in vertical terrain, great for you downhill skiers and riders! Northstar has 92 ski trails the longest of which is 1.4 miles. The state of the art lift system ferries you to the nearly 3,000 acres of skiable terrain! And with an annual snow of 350 inch expect a lot of fresh powder for you and all you friends.

When renting your skis and snowboarders finding a proper store with the right expert to know what ski or snowboard boot and binding will work the best for you is essential.  Getting your boots fitted properly and you skis and board waxed can make all the difference between a great time and sore-footed time.

Two Stores that have fantastic reputations in the region are:

1)   Inn Shop of Squaw Valley. It’s in Olympic valley and offers full service ski and snowboard rentals, purchases and deals. It’s been in business for nearly 20 years and has been service adventure seekers from all over the world since.

2)   Northstar at Tahoe Resort Ski and Snowboard Rentals. Located in Truckee this store offers full service ski and snowboard rentals, gear, tune-ups and generally great knowledge of what works best for you. Also because its so close to mountain you will spend less time getting your gear and getting it fitted than you will on the slopes, and you cant beat that!

I hope this has been informative and gives you some help getting the right gear you need at the right price!

To book Northstar ski rentals call 1.970.372.6551. You can also book cheap ski packages online from the comfort of your own home.

Vail Colorado Rentals: Ski Rental Tips

Monday, August 16th, 2010

The ski and snowboard equipment rentals business, just like any other enterprise in Vail, has flourished alongside the resort’s boom.

Competition and the increasing demand for more services that would better suit Vail’s prestige as a top notch skiing destination has resulted in the ski rental business evolving into an all-encompassing full service facility that offer different packages for testing, renting, and selling equipment, and exploring new business opportunities unheard of before.

No wonder more and more skiers and vacationers are leaving their skis at home and are instead opting for the more convenient gear rentals. After all, lugging ski equipment around especially when traveling in groups and by plane can be pretty cumbersome.

Ski rental shops nowadays do not merely lease out ski equipment. They offer a whole lot of other services as well that can make your skiing holiday hassle-free.

Online Reservation – Most rental shops found in Vail also have an online presence. This is to ensure that once you get there, you already have your equipment waiting for you. In the meantime, you can spend as long as you want choosing the gear that you would be most comfortable with.

Rental of All Types of Ski and Snowboard Equipment – Gone are the days when availing of rentals meant being content with sub par equipment. Now you can actually rent good quality skis and snowboards at reasonable rates. Choose from a wide range of brands, colors, styles, and sizes to suit every member of your party.

Free Ski Storage – Enjoy a day on the slopes and check out the shopping areas, restaurants, and bars later. How to make the seamless transition from skiing to relaxing to partying? Leave all your bulky equipment at the rentals shop where you got them. Most shops are in close proximity to the lifts so you can just pick them up again first thing the following day.

Equipment Delivery – For those who don’t want to be bothered having to visit shops and want to make the most of their time in their cozy accommodations, skis and snowboard rentals can be delivered right to your Vail doorstep. Some rental services are even on wheels so they can be on the go all the time.

Convenient Locations – One common feature of rental shops is being easily accessible. Many are just a few steps away from the lifts, others are just off the I-70, some have well-situated slopeside locations, and there are even those which claim to be “closest to the slopes”. Wherever you go in Vail, there’s sure to be a rentals shop just nearby.

Tuning Up and Waxing – Whether you intend to race down the slopes or just take a relaxed slide off the mountain, quality ski tuning is a must for a guaranteed fun run. Waxing services are also available to make sure your skis are suitable to the current conditions of the mountain.

Discount Coupons – Promos for all sorts of rental packages are available for all Vail skiers and snowboarders. Incentives are especially guaranteed when you make advance online reservations – for some, even just 24 hours earlier. Discounts for as much as 10 to 25 percent are up for grabs, as well as free pick up and delivery, free kids’ rental, and even discounted lift tickets.

Demo Packages – You have the option to try out the top of the line ski equipment the shop has to offer. If you decide to purchase the gear you tried out after a day or two of use, the price for the demo session will be knocked off the ski price, in effect letting you have a free demo package.
