When you decide to take a ski vacation it’s a great feeling knowing that you’re going to be experiencing the freedom and love that comes from riding down the mountain. One of the things that can hang people up when planning their trip is where to rent their ski and snowboard equipment. I want to give you some basic advice on the resort itself and then offer some stores with good reputations for renting skiing gear.
Well Northstar is at Tahoe about 200 miles from San Francisco Bay which is awesome is your flying in. The bigger the airport, in this case international the cheaper the tickets tend to be. And really 200 mile isn’t that far, you can either rent a car or take a shuttle to the resort.
The resort has a base elevation of 6,330 feet and a top elevation of 8,610 feet. That’s a 2,280-foot change in vertical terrain, great for you downhill skiers and riders! Northstar has 92 ski trails the longest of which is 1.4 miles. The state of the art lift system ferries you to the nearly 3,000 acres of skiable terrain! And with an annual snow of 350 inch expect a lot of fresh powder for you and all you friends.
When renting your skis and snowboarders finding a proper store with the right expert to know what ski or snowboard boot and binding will work the best for you is essential. Getting your boots fitted properly and you skis and board waxed can make all the difference between a great time and sore-footed time.
Two Stores that have fantastic reputations in the region are:
1) Inn Shop of Squaw Valley. It’s in Olympic valley and offers full service ski and snowboard rentals, purchases and deals. It’s been in business for nearly 20 years and has been service adventure seekers from all over the world since.
2) Northstar at Tahoe Resort Ski and Snowboard Rentals. Located in Truckee this store offers full service ski and snowboard rentals, gear, tune-ups and generally great knowledge of what works best for you. Also because its so close to mountain you will spend less time getting your gear and getting it fitted than you will on the slopes, and you cant beat that!
